Learng to DJ w/ Daniel

For our 2025 Place-Based Music Celebration, Marquette Youth Volume followed the history of techno beats guided by teaching artist DJ Daniel and perform ambient sounds at Queer Family Yoga!

Picture
Violinists and cellists ages 5-15 will collaborate with a local DJ to provide music during an all-ages, donation-based yoga class this Saturday afternoon, June 7th at 3:30p. Yoga class participants are invited to donate at the door or pre-register at www.omramayogamqt.com.

Please join us at SOMA Studios 1221 Division in Suite #201 to hear Marquette Youth Volume decorating the beats of DJ Daniel Thurman, with a sound bath of strings! The class will close out with singing bowls played by Geno Moliterno.

This is one of the last yoga classes in a recent series intent on celebrating gay families. Since March, Kristen Karls of Om Rama Yoga has been offering one hour of gentle yoga accompanied by live music from a DJ or musicians from the local LGBTQ community. Afterwards, there is always an hour of community-building with tea from Young Mountain & potluck snacks.

Come back to SOMA Studios on Saturday June 21st at 3:30p, to celebrate summer and close out our first series of Queer Intergenerational Yoga classes, hosted within the violin & cello studio of Youth Volume. DJ Honana Upsidedown Culture Records will be playing vinyl from his collection alongside singing bowls of Geno Moliterno.

Funding for this project was made in part by individual donors, and by Zonta Marquette, empowering women and girls.
