Growing Equitable Organizations by Design (GEODes)

Together, we'll take action to enhance your work by building around five facets of GEODes:
- CLARIFY CULTURE that embodies your dream for social change within your microcosm. Envision an environment for yourself, your clients & collaborators to practice living in the world we want now.
- GROW DIVERSITY by partnering with local organizations to curate a mixed-income, multicultural network.
- EXPAND ACCESS to your offerings by creating a sustainable grassroots fundraising plan with a foundation of individual donors that will subsidize your work year after year. Every client will benefit by being part of the diverse community you are building with your supporters, not solely those who receive financial aid to access your offerings.
- ELEVATE INCLUSION by working interdependently with your clients and collaborators. Draw inspiration from the social justice organizing principals of emergence, outlined in the book Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds by adrienne maree brown.
- EMPLOY EQUITY PEDAGOGY that intentionally nurtures your clients', skills for changemaking such as resilience, innovation, collaboration, and higher order thinking. This facet is applicable to those providing educational services.
Who knows how much impact our little microcosms will have?
Sometimes we can actually do the math to find out. For example, within the Suzuki movement of music education, if 7,000 registered Suzuki teachers world-wide were to fundraise to teach 1-2 students (ten percent of their studios) for free, at least ten thousand more youth would have access to high-quality music education. Now that's collective impact!

GEODes consultant Clara Hardie is the founder of Youth Volume, a social justice music studio that began at a Detroit soup kitchen in 2010.
It was the original lab school of for the Growing Equitable Music Studios (GEMS) "Course of Action", which has evolved into the broader work of Growing Equitable Organizations by Design (GEODes).
Clara coaches co-conspirators through GEODes in order to shares lessons learned and unite individuals and organizations with common changemaking purpose. The word co-conspirator means "with the same breath".
